PADDLE A SEE-THROUGH KAYAK OVER SILVER SPRINGS

SILVER SPRINGS — A regular kayak shows you the river. A clear kayak shows you everything under it.
Guided clear-kayak tours at Silver Springs — operators like Get Up And Go Kayaking run them daily — put you in a fully transparent boat over some of the clearest spring water on Earth. Fish drift under your seat, turtles paddle past below, and the famous spring vents bubble up through water so transparent the boat looks like it’s hovering.
It’s become one of Florida’s most photographed outdoor experiences, and it’s beginner-friendly: guides lead the way down the Silver River, pointing out wildlife from manatees and gators (at a respectful distance) to the sunken movie props left over from Silver Springs’ Hollywood days.
Go on a sunny morning when the light hits the water right — that’s when the springs glow the electric blue-green that made them famous.
